Active Campaign segments, I’m going to show you how you can build segments and Active Campaign and we’re going to use AND and OR logic to do so. Just note that and it’s very specific, if you have multiple conditions and using and then all the requirements need to be met for someone to be identified. On the other end of the spectrum is or in other words, if you have multiple requirements, only one of those has to be met to qualify. You can also combine the two and I’ll show you that, so let’s dive right in.
So inside your Active Campaign account, you have a search feature appear. You can set specific conditions here, but you can get a little more advanced. So if you click there, click on Advanced Search. It’s going to open up this at the top now I’ve created three different tags called temp A, B, and C. Let’s start by using an or condition to see anybody that has any of those tags. I’m going to do tag and this will be temp.
Okay, so we’re going to find all the contacts that have any of these tags. Not all of them, but any, we will find those that have all of them. But the emphasis here is on the or, or just getting people so all these people have either a, b or c tag. Notice I named them appropriately so this person only has the A tag this person has the AB tag this person is ABC tag this person is AC etc. So let’s just actually take a look at this person that should be an AB tech person Temp A, TempB. So that’s or so we’ve got seven people that meet the OR CONDITIONS now let’s go to the other extreme and make this an end. So they have to have A they have to have B they have to have C in this case, there should only be one.
So I’m going to go back here changes to an And. And go ahead and now search this time. So it should only have one contact that meets this requirement. Okay, so this person here has a, b, and c tag. ABC. So those are the two extremes. So an order is very relaxed. A lot of require a lot of conditions get met easily and and is almost just the opposite. So let’s do this. Let’s only look for people that have the A or B tech. Now watch what happens here. I’m going to remove this and it changes back to an OR. So anybody that has a or b, they could have C I guess that’s where I’m going to go with this one. So let’s take a look at what this looks like this person as A this person is A and B. A, B but also C they have A they have B they have B C’s 123456 the only person that didn’t meet these requirements was the one that had just the C tag.
Let’s go change this to temp C. And again this will be an order condition. So the only person that’s not here is the one that just has a B tag. What about this does not exist. So this is we’re throwing in not now a and or and also not. So let’s see what happens here. They have A but they don’t have C. So obviously I’m picking up a whole bunch of people I didn’t really want to do so I’m going to skip that one. But you can’t do that. So let’s try something else.
Let’s say A or B. Now we’re gonna put another condition. This is how we can combine, Whoops, I don’t wanna do that I want to have a new segment. And notice this isn’t, or I could make this an orbit. That’s really redundant. But just for fun, let’s do it. So this is the same as what I started with a or b, or c. But I’m kind of breaking out I’ll show you what we can do here in a sec. So let’s make sure we have all seven contacts. And we do this time I’m going to make it an end. So either A or B but and C, those are the only two that meet those requirements. So I just want to point out this is how you can do and or logic.
And you can combine the inside Active Campaign. Additionally, it doesn’t just have to be tagged. So for instance, and I’m not going to actually go too far down here, but we could say, you know, somebody is in a list has opened any campaign or a specific campaign. So there’s a lot you can do with creating segments. And once you’ve got the one you want, you can go ahead and save it, give it a name and then use it for instance when you send out a campaign. That’s how we use Active Campaign segments.
