SamCart<\/a> is taking a “winner takes all” approach with their new Courses App<\/a> capability.<\/p>\n

The app is available on all<\/strong> price plans with unlimited students<\/em> and unlimited courses<\/em> at no extra cost<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

If you are paying for a service like Thinkific, Teachable, Kajabi, Podia, etc. and have been using SamCart to take payment, you could<\/em> kiss that additional payment goodbye.<\/p>\n

SamCart Courses Pros and Cons<\/h2>\n

Let’s start with what I don’t like.<\/p>\n

This is an easy one.<\/p>\n

I don’t know.<\/p>\n

It is new, untested.\u00a0 OK, maybe not untested, but I can almost guarantee that something won’t work exactly right, or need to be tweaked, or might not even exist or is broken.\u00a0 Just don’t know yet.\u00a0 Now that is a potential problem if you are thinking about moving your course or courses over from another platform.<\/p>\n

Here is what I like.<\/p>\n

+ It is not<\/strong> a paid upgrade.\u00a0 Who does that? (Think “Winner Takes All”).\u00a0 It is now standard on all<\/em> SamCart plans.<\/p>\n

+ Currently they allow unlimited<\/strong> customers and unlimited<\/strong> courses as of today.\u00a0 Taking an educated guess, I suspect “unlimited” goes away some time in the future.<\/p>\n

+ Passwords<\/strong>.\u00a0 Hold that thought for a minute.\u00a0 I know, who would have thunk something as mundane as passwords would be considered a pro in a pro \/ cons list?\u00a0 Go with me on this one.\u00a0 When you integrate one service, ex – SamCart, with another service, ex – Thinkific, you have to handle giving access to the customer.\u00a0 It all works.\u00a0 But not always seamlessly.\u00a0 Sometimes, the Thinkific email with the express signin url ends up in a spam folder.\u00a0 Guess what – unhappy customer.\u00a0 Plus, who wants to wait for an email with login details.\u00a0 Yuk.\u00a0 With SamCart Courses, all events occur within the SamCart system.\u00a0 Customer purchases + automatic login = happy customer.\u00a0 Told you passwords was a pro.<\/p>\n

+ Course cross-sells<\/strong> … this is big.\u00a0 SamCart is keeping the customer’s payment method readily available.\u00a0 How is this good you ask?\u00a0 Let’s say your customer is enjoying one of your courses.\u00a0 The customer can preview the other courses inside SamCart.\u00a0 Guess what they can also do?\u00a0 That’s right, buy access to the other courses right there without having to talk to their significant other and get permission.\u00a0 Just kidding … sort of.\u00a0 Their payment details are stored and ready to be used.\u00a0 As of this writing, that feature is in beta.\u00a0 Let me just say it again, this is big.<\/p>\n
